Board of Officers APSPA

The state’s oldest contract security association

Phil Candy

Chairman

Originally from Michigan, Phil worked in a couple of different industries and eventually founded a mortgage broker firm, which he ran for approximately 5 years.  The challenges he faced as a small business owner gave him great insight and a unique ability to assist business owners.

After a merger he worked in the PEO (Professional Employer Organization) sector, eventually making his way into Commercial Insurance, specializing in Private Security Guard insurance, which is where he has remained for the past 17 years.  By focusing exclusively on private security he has been able to form valuable relationships with the Managing Firms and Carriers who insure this highly specialized risk.  With his singular focus comes the ability to assist his clients with risk management/mitigation strategies tailored specifically to this challenging field as well as to provide valuable guidance on how to properly manage and grow security firms from a risk management perspective.

Mark served with distinction as a helicopter navigator in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1991.  After the military, he began his career working in the public housing developments in San Francisco, Oakland and Richmond, CA where he specialized in gang and narcotic enforcement.
